Heather Broughton is a respected leader in agricultural business management education, dedicated to helping farm businesses and agri-business leaders thrive through stronger leadership, strategy, and decision-making.

She brings extensive experience designing and delivering comprehensive farm management programs that translate world-class business concepts into practical tools that resonate with farm families. Her work has also advanced agricultural innovation as a Board Member and Chair of the Agriculture and Food Council, and she has led pioneering women’s leadership initiatives in Alberta, strengthening leadership development and visibility across the sector.

What is Bridges to Success and why was it created?

Bridges to Success was created to address a critical gap in Canadian agriculture: accessible, practical business management education designed specifically for farmers and agribusiness leaders. While producers excel at production, many lack formal training in essential business skills like financial management, strategic planning, and succession.

Founded by Heather Broughton, we emerged from years of delivering farm business education and working directly with farm families facing complex management challenges. With government extension services no longer widely available, we stepped in to provide comprehensive programs that combine expert instruction, peer learning, and real-world application. Our mission is simple: to help farmers build the confidence and competence to manage their operations as strong, sustainable businesses.

How does Bridges to Success help clients achieve their goals?

We deliver results through expert-led education, collaborative learning, and practical application. Our programs, including comprehensive management training, advanced business education, specialized leadership development, and targeted workshops, cover essential business topics from financial analysis and budgeting to marketing strategy, team building, and succession planning.
